Methodology & Learning

“I WANT TO BE ME”

The curriculum and methodology of learning at NRIGDS are responsive and relevant to the developmental needs and interests of learners at different stages of their development. Our curricular framework is well aligned with NEP 2020. It is guided by a 5+3+3+4 design, consisting of the Foundational Stage in the following manner.

  • 3 years of pre-school + 2 years in primary school in Grades 1-2
  • 3 Years of Preparatory Stage in Grades 3-5
  • 3 Years of Middle Stage in Grades 6-8
  • 4 Years of Secondary Stage in Grades 9 -12

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Keeping child-centric education in mind, NRI Global Discovery School has a clear focus on providing a learning environment that is both interactive and experiential. At NRIGD the teaching methodology is a diverse mix of the most recent innovations. We believe that a single approach does not meet the requirements of all children. Our pedagogy allows us to select the best combination of approaches according to the learning styles and needs of the students.

PREP TO KG II

“Children are like tiny flowers; they are varied and need care, but each is beautiful alone and glorious when seen in the community of peers.” -Friedrich Froebel.

The term “kindergarten” is a German word and it was invented by Friedrich Froebel. “Kinder” means “Children” and “Garten” means “Garden”. Kindergarten at NRIGDA focuses on the emotional and physical development of young ones in the age group of 3 to 6 years. Our pre-primary educators are well-trained and they encourage learning and self-understanding of our tiny tots through play activities and greater autonomy, rather than the imposition of mature ideas. A day at the NRIGDA preschool involves much free play, both indoors and outdoors, and structured time. Here the educators act like facilitators and guide the students in their learning using various hands-on games, basic skills for letter and number identification, visual motor skills, and more. This collection of preschool activities includes Dramatic Play, Sensorial Learning, Choice Time Activities, Role Play, Art and Discovery Hour/Wonder Time. Our mentors choose these developmentally appropriate activities to let our students gain knowledge and apply that to real-life situations.

PRIMARY SCHOOL (GRADE 1-5)

Primary School is a period of five years which starts from Grade I and goes till V. During this period the basic skills in all subjects are further enhanced and innovation and the spirit of exploration are promoted. This wing ensures that the students acquire sound language skills, clarity of mathematical concepts and understanding of scientific concepts.

“The Aha! Moment” in the classroom refers to the moment when a student grasps a concept that is a little challenging for him or her using a real-life fun-filled example. It’s a rewarding experience for both the student and the teacher, indicating successful learning and comprehension.

Learning is enriched by a number of activities like drama, storytelling, poetry, music, discussions and a wide range of artistic and hands-on activities.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (GRADE 6-8)

In the Middle Years, the students experience the joy of learning, gain a deep understanding of important concepts, develop research and experimental skills and learn to take responsibility for actions, decisions and outcomes. Along with these essential scholastic areas, the rich and varied co-scholastic program at NRIGDS includes educational trips, Hands-on experiments, projects and real-life experiences.

SECONDARY SCHOOL

The curriculum of secondary school has been specifically designed to enhance the learning of concepts as per CBSE norms. All our classrooms are bright, comfortable and with cheering spaces to work in. Our library and discovery lab, state-of-the-art science labs and ICT labs have everything as per our students’ needs to develop a wide range of academic interests.

The assessment plan of the school is as per the Assessment Guideline issued by CBSE. These are conducted to assess the application, understanding and effort of the students in the scholastic areas.
